Learn to back up your client’s data before committing to permanently deleting their TikTok accounts.
Start by opening the TikTok mobile app and logging into your client’s account.
Go to the profile page by tapping the profile icon at the bottom right corner of your screen.
Select the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) at the top right corner of your screen.
Select Settings and Privacy.
Next, tap Account, then Download your data.
Under the Request data tab, select the file format (TXT or JSON) to download your client’s data.
Tap the Request data button, and you’re all set.
TikTok will back up your client’s profile, app activity, and settings.
The platform can take a few days to process your request. Once your client’s data file is ready, you can access and download it within four days before it expires.
It’s also good practice to always back up your client’s TikTok videos in case they get taken down or accidentally deleted.

It can take several days for TikTok’s support team to get back to you and process the request to delete your client’s account.
Are you wondering if your reasons for deleting your clients’ TikTok accounts are valid? Well, here are some of the most common, acceptable reasons for deleting TikTok accounts:
1. Age appropriateness dilemma. Most TikTok users are young, which may not be your clients’ target audiences. Sure, your clients can follow VP Global Sales Solution for LinkedIn Jonathan Lister’s advice…
“Speak to your audience in their language about what’s in their heart.”
However, this approach can take more time and resources than your clients are willing to invest. So, it would make more sense for your clients to delete their TikTok accounts to focus their efforts on other social media platforms that their target market frequents.
2. TikTok isn’t your client’s cup of tea. TikTok tends to be all about the latest dance craze, trends, and entertaining content. If your client’s brand aims for a more serious, professional vibe, TikTok may not be the best platform for them. Essentially, some brands succeed on TikTok, and others don’t.
Like what Blavity CEO Morgan Debaun said…
“Execution and failure is a part of the process. You have to accept that.”
3. Change in strategies. Depending on your clients’ business goals and the overall approach they’ll take to promote their business, they might decide to drop TikTok altogether.
If that happens, consider deleting their TikTok account as opposed to leaving their accounts open but inactive. Leaving the accounts inactive can make your clients seem as if they’re not responsible or trustworthy enough.
