Troubleshooting: Resetting Facebook Access

If your scheduled posts or Facebook posts have started to fail, you’re getting some error messages there, or maybe even you’re going through your Facebook trying to connect an Instagram page, Facebook page, and you’re not finding it on the list, you might even have seen this: “It appears we no longer have access to your profile”. Then this is the right video. We’re going to help you to troubleshoot these connection issues by completely resetting our access to your Facebook account.

Accessing Facebook Settings

So, the first thing you want to do is head over to Facebook. We’ll go over to your profile and just make sure that you’re logged in as your personal profile, not as a page or a group or anything like that. You want to be logged in as your personal profile. Head over to settings and privacy and settings. When we get to this page, you’ll have the security and login area. From there, business integrations, and you’ll see the Vista Social app. Let’s go ahead and click on remove.

Removing Vista Social Connection Safely

But before we move any further, make sure you don’t check off this middle section here. If you accidentally click this checkbox, Facebook will automatically and permanently delete every, every single post you’ve ever published with Vista Social. So, please make sure you don’t click that.

Alright, let’s go ahead and click on remove. So once that’s been removed, we have essentially reset Vista Social’s connection to your Facebook account.

Reconnecting Your Profiles

So we can go back to Vista Social, click on quick add and add a social profile, and let’s go ahead and select the right profile group here. Now, keep in mind you only have to do this once. Even if you have 15, 20, 30 Instagram and Facebook pages, as long as you’re the same admin across all of these, you only have to reconnect one of them.

So I’ll head over to Facebook. It’ll prompt me for the authentication. Making sure to select all right. We’re not tweaking these permissions or modifying this. In fact, that could actually cause issues. If you have questions on any of these permissions iterations here on the screen, reach out to our support team. We’ll get you some clarity and help you out. But just make sure you’re not tweaking any of these permissions.

Finalizing the Reset

Okay, once you’ve reconnected, you’ll get sent back to Vista Social. I’ll go ahead and select the page here now that it’s showing and we’re good to go on Facebook. We’ll do this one more time for my Instagram account here as well. I’ll add my social profile, Matthew’s coffee Instagram, and here we go again. Now I’ve got my Matthew’s coffee Instagram, and as we can see now, I no longer have that exclamation mark. Everything has been reset. At this point, feel free to start rescheduling your posts or using the inbox or reporting. You’re all set to go.
