Setting Up Your Slack Account and App

First things first, make sure that you already have your trusty Slack account set up and ready to go. Once you’re all sorted out, let’s head over to api.slack.com/apps. Now click on “Create a Slack App” and choose the “From scratch” option. Give your app a descriptive name, like Slack Social Notifications or something more interesting.

Activating Incoming Webhooks

Now let’s get those notifications flowing. Head over to your Slack app settings and find the “Add features and functionality” section. Let’s activate incoming webhooks with a simple toggle switch. You can even create multiple webhooks for different Slack channels. Talk about customization galore, right?

By the way, you can also receive this notification for any other notification type that you wish to receive in Vista Social and not just for posts needing your review.

Customizing Your Slack App Appearance

Now let’s add a touch of personality to your Slack app. By default, your Slack app will have a generic icon and notification, but if you head over to your basic information section on your Slack app settings here, you’ll find options to change the app icon, color, and even the name. You can even customize it to match your own brand or feel free to use our very own logo which you can grab from Vista Social’s brand assets page.
