Customizing Captions Across Networks & Profiles

Hey, this is Reggie with Vista Social’s customer success team. In this video, we’re going to be focusing on caption customizations. What happens when you’re scheduling a post, like this one, across different networks, but the caption has to be tweaked between each one?

Maybe, let’s say on Instagram, you don’t want to use the same hashtags that you’re using on other networks. Or maybe you don’t want to include a link in the Instagram one because it probably wouldn’t make too much sense, but you want to include a link on the Facebook version. How do we do this?

After you’ve added your main caption for this post and you’ve attached your media, we can use the right-hand side of the preview to make those tweaks. I’m over here on Facebook and maybe what I want to do is I want to get rid of some of these hashtags here.

What you’ll see immediately right here is that the caption for Facebook’s been customized and it has to be changed in the preview to the right. We’re giving you an indicator to let you know, “Hey, this caption for Facebook is no longer linked to that middle main caption.”

Right, that’s the first one you created. This main caption here, it was used across all the networks. But the second we come in here and we make customization for a network, they get unlinked. So any changes you want to do has to be done back in here.

Make sure that you watch out for those indicators because let’s say you come in here and now you add a link. You might get a little confused because the preview here on the right-hand side doesn’t have that link. I’m looking at Twitter, I’m looking at Facebook and I’m thinking, “What is happening? I’m typing and nothing, nothing is showing up.” Those messages have to be changed right here in the preview box.

If we go over to Instagram, since it wasn’t customized, we can see that the change happens immediately here. This is a great way for you to create one post to multiple networks, saving you time but making sure that you’re tweaking these posts specifically for each of the networks you’re scheduling to.
